Being pregnant looks absolutely gorgeous on Cathy. And I loved how stylish her hubby, Dennis, looked with his vest and bright yellow socks! I think Deep Ellum was the perfect setting for these two for their maternity session. I love to shoot in this part of town every chance I get. The brightly colored walls and textures make for awesome backgrounds. I love maternity sessions as long as both parents are present. I will freely admit that I am NOT a fan of maternity shoots with just the mom’s bare belly and some props (…and I have never done one). I think the focus should be the love between mom and dad, the whole reason the belly was created in the first place… am I right?? Plus, the baby will be the main subject of pictures from that point forward so mom and dad deserve a little time in the spotlight! When you think about it, they are a lot like engagement photos… images taken in anticipation of a huge milestone and to commemorate a couple’s love for each other. So any way you slice it, they are all about love and the miracles love can create! I want my mom and dad clients to be able to look back on these photos when they are up to their elbows in diapers and spit-up and remember how in love they are.
